Why sterility matters for eye drops
The eye has little natural protection against germs introduced directly onto its surface. That’s why ophthalmic products are made in controlled conditions and include preservatives such as benzalkonium chloride to keep the solution sterile after opening – as long as it is used correctly and within its discard date.
Quality isn’t a final check at the end of the line. It is built into every step, from the first raw material to the box in your hands.

- Buy medicines from licensed pharmacies and authorised distributors.
